MIDDLETON PLACE

Middleton Place is a National Historic Landmark and a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation that has survived revolution, Civil War, and earthquake. It was the home of four important generations of Middletons, beginning with Henry Middleton, President of the First Continental Congress; Arthur, a signer of the Declaration of Independence; Henry, Governor of South Carolina and an American Minister to Russia; and Williams, a signer of the Ordinance of Secession. Visitors can tour the Gardens, the House Museum, and the Plantation Stableyards.

***Fantopia's Personal Note*** Middleton Place is absolutely a beautiful plantation and can be enjoyed by all. It is at it's zenith during the spring when all of our local flowering shrubs are in full bloom like the azaleas, camelias and so forth. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch to truly enjoy the whole experience. And if you ever have the oportunity to go when the Charleston Symphony Orchastra plays there, well, words can't describe the experience you will leave with. Truly magnificent!
