Another aquatic creature who resembles a mermaid is the Iara, who dwells in rivers and small bodies of water. She is also know as the beautiful queen of the water. She grooms her long beautiful hair with a golden comb and also has a wondrous voice in which she sings to draw men unto herself and makes them go mad. It is said that upon the death of an Iara, the river in which she resides will die along side with her.
