Being a native Charlestonian I can honestly say that this wonderful city in which we live is one of the most unique, charming, interesting and historical cities in the United States. Being right on the Atlantic Ocean provides us with a very enjoyable lifestyle when it comes to good food, seafood is fresh and aplenty with the islands and lowcountry to provide fresh vegetables and other local produce. The many beaches that we have for bathers, shelling and exercise, fresh and salt water for fishing, crabbing, tubing and water skiing and the mild winter climate make for the perfect place to be. Charleston, South Carolina is full of history and beautiful architecture and many historical figures have lived here as well as visited. George Washington enjoyed his visits here in Charleston and had his portrait done by a local artist. We've also had Black Beard the pirate visit our local waters and we've even hung a few pirates at "White Point Gardens" also known as the "Battery." And of course there is our deep seeded roots plunging deep when it comes to the civil war. There is plenty to do and see, no matter what your tastes, interests or age and I might add it can be done on dry land or in the water. We have several old plantations and gardens to visit, a dungeun, the battery, many shops along the original old market, parasailing, carriage tours, Charles Towne Landing, water parks and don't miss your chance to buy a ticket on a head boat or a private charter to try your luck off shore fishing. Don't have the money for that? Try fishing off of Folly Beach Pier or do a little surf fishing or crabbing. If you want to have a good time and get good advice on where to go to eat, shop or just see the local sites, always smile, be kind and courteous to everyone you meet because native Charlestonians, locals who were born and grew up here, are very outgoing and friendly and do not smile upon visitors who do not show good manners and return niceties. We are very proud of our hospitality and think nothing about waving at strangers and making people feel welcome. We want you to have a good time while you are here, life is simple but is sure is good.
